Uzbekistan’s crypto mining landscape is poised for a major transformation as the country’s cryptocurrency market regulator has greenlit a licensing framework for mining activities. The National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) in Uzbekistan has mandated the licensing of crypto mining operations, effectively confining this activity to legitimate enterprises.
Under the new regulations set forth by the NAPP, businesses engaged in cryptocurrency mining in Uzbekistan must exclusively rely on solar power for their operations when mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, private miners have been prohibited from conducting mining activities. However, there are exceptions outlined in the country’s laws for miners who require access to the centralized electricity grid.

Additionally, all cryptocurrency mining activities must take place at the registered business address. Furthermore, the regulations dictate that cryptocurrency mining companies must fully and punctually pay their mining fees as prescribed.
Uzbekistan’s NAPP has officially prohibited the mining of anonymous coins, which are specifically designed to enhance transaction anonymity. According to the NAPP, participating in any type of mining or providing mining-related services is deemed unlawful unless the necessary permits and licenses are obtained.
The NAPP in Uzbekistan has explicitly banned the mining of anonymous coins, which are designed to ensure transaction anonymity. According to the NAPP, engaging in any form of mining activity or providing any kind of mining service is considered illegal without obtaining the appropriate permits and licenses.
The recent crypto-mining paper issued by the NAPP in Uzbekistan may not necessarily represent a definitive regulation setting a framework for mining in the country. In recent years, the Uzbek government has released several similar decrees, all of which explicitly prohibit private miners from conducting business within the country.
In April 2022, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reaffirmed the country’s ban on its citizens using cryptocurrencies for purchases and engaging in cryptocurrency mining.
