Despite the expulsion of the former governor almost two months ago, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) remains committed to its goal of the central bank Digital Currency Project (CBDC), showing no signs of abandoning it.

According to a report by the local news agency The Sun, the central bank has recently improved the CBDC mobile application by including Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

This update allows mobile devices and payment terminals to interact when they are in close proximity, facilitating convenient and contactless payments by eNaira.
