The U.S Department of Justice is pursuing the retrieval of $5.2 million in stolen Bitcoin and a luxury sports car that were acquired by thе teenage hacker Ahmad Wagaafe Hared back in 2016. Hared, along with Matthew Gene Ditman and other co-conspirators, orchestrated a SIM-swapping scheme aimed at siphoning funds from cryptocurrency executives in Northern California. They manipulated cell phone providers into revealing information regarding their targets’ SIM cards, enabling them to circumvent two-factor authentication measures and carry out their thefts. Hared utilized thе pilfered funds to procure a BMW i8, and prosecutors are now striving to reclaim both the vehicle and thе cryptocurrency.
