The Bank of China has launched a “Cross-Border Shopping Festival” in Hong Kong, giving mainland Chinese citizens the opportunity to pay for goods and services using CBDC, in more than 200 stores.

According to the official press release, the campaign will take place from July to August to coincide with the tourist season. Customers of bank branches in Jiangsu, Guangdong and Shenzhen can receive a promo cashback in envelopes containing digital yuan.
