Blockchain analysts have identified a $14.9 million USDC transfer originating from a wallet linked to Vitalik Buterin.
As per an October 17 report by blockchain analytics company PeckShield, Buterin’s wallet, “vitalik.eth,” conducted the $14.93 million transfer to Gemini on October 16. This transaction has been independently confirmed by Cointelegraph on Etherscan.
Buterin initially received the sum of 14.93 million USDC from Kanro, a charity associated with him, on October 14.
Furthermore, a separate examination conducted by the cryptocurrency data provider Lookonchain revealed that Buterin had transferred approximately $500,000 to Coinbase just three days prior to the mentioned transaction.
After news of the transfer, the price of Ethereum’s native cryptocurrency, Ether, remained relatively stable, showing only a 0.68% decrease in the past four hours, as per price data from CoinGecko.
Vitalik Buterin’s recent transaction is part of a series of Ethereum (ETH) deposits to centralized exchanges in recent months, with the total amount transferred from Buterin’s wallets exceeding $3.9 million in September.
On September 24, Vitalik Buterin moved 400 ETH, valued at $600,000 at the time, to Coinbase. Previously, on August 21, Cointelegraph had reported a 600-ETH transfer, equivalent to $1 million, from the “vitalik.eth” address, which had also been detected by on-chain monitoring platforms.
